NHUMEP pursues several lines of research and develops projects that promote an open and active dialogue between the humanities and the social sciences. It brings together researchers from various disciplines – sociology, anthropology, law, history, literary and cultural studies, linguistics, international relations, peace studies, gender studies or postcolonial studies – who reflect upon and analyze issues of particular relevance for contemporary society. Crossing disciplines allows for innovative research drawing on theories and comparative analysis of different geographical, historical, social and cultural contexts, taking into account the global implications of local phenomena.
